Systems Administrator

Remcom is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join our team! The Systems Administrator will be responsible for overseeing a network consisting of numerous servers and workstations in a mixed Linux and Windows environment distributed across multiple sites. Remcom’s computer needs encompass a broad spectrum of technologies, including Cisco VPNs, VMWare ESXi, and various kinds of high-performance computing.

In addition, the System Administrator is responsible for planning and budgeting for future IT expansion and maintenance, as well as maintaining licensing and support for the variety of development software used by developers at Remcom.

Qualified candidates will have a strong knowledge of both Linux and Windows fundamentals and should be highly organized, detail oriented, and motivated to direct their own work with little supervision.  The System Administrator will work with all employees at every level of the company, so good communications skills are also required.

Required Skills:

  • Linux/Unix administration

  • Windows Active Directory administration

  • Firewall/VPN configuration and management

  • Hardware diagnosis and troubleshooting

  • Planning, budgeting, and self-management

  • Excellent communications skills

Optional/Preferred Skills:

  • VMWare ESXi configuration and management

  • Cisco ASA/Catalyst experience

  • Experience with VoIP systems (FreePBX/Asterisk)

  • High-performance computing and clustering, including NVIDIA CUDA, and job scheduling software such as SLURM

  • Basic MySQL administration

  • Familiarity with SSSD and Samba

  • Helpdesk/troubleshooting ability

  • Salesforce, Quickbooks familiarity

  • Jenkins CI familiarity

  • Puppet configuration management

  • Familiarity with low levels of DoD restricted-access materials and policies (CUI/NIST 800-171)

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Associates degree in MIS, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of eight years’ experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
